Job Description

What you’ll do

As a Complex Care Assistant, you will be part of a small, dedicated team supporting a cheerful, engaging young woman in her late 20s who lives in her beautifully adapted bungalow in Cheshire. She is a gentle, smiley, sensory-loving person with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex epilepsy. She uses a wheelchair and communicates non-verbally.

Working closely with her family and support team, you will help enable her to live a meaningful and fulfilling life while providing a consistently high standard of care in a friendly, positive environment.

She enjoys an active and varied weekly routine and has her own adapted vehicle for outings. Your role will include supporting her to access a range of community activities such as rebound therapy, visits to the zoo, local parks, and other attractions.

At home, you will help create enriching sensory experiences and support activities she enjoys, such as music therapy, physiotherapy, massage, foot spas, and spending time in the garden. You’ll also play an important role in encouraging and introducing new experiences to keep her days stimulating and enjoyable.

You will support her with all aspects of daily living, including:

  • Personal care
  • Administering medication
  • Supporting with meals and cooking
  • Household tasks and domestic duties
  • Shopping and errands
  • Supporting community activities and outings
  • Helping maintain a safe, calm, and positive home environment

Full training is provided, including specialist training from epilepsy nurses who oversee her clinical care. While experience supporting people with complex needs or an understanding of person-centred practice would be beneficial, the most important qualities are kindness, compassion, and the right values.

You will be part of a supportive team environment with ongoing supervision and guidance from an experienced care manager.

Qualifications

What you’ll need

  • A kind, compassionate and empathetic nature.
  • A genuine passion for supporting people with complex needs.
  • A cheerful, patient, and respectful approach.
  • The ability to work as a true team player within a close-knit support circle.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence using your initiative and making decisions.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights.
  • Ideally, previous experience supporting people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and/or complex epilepsy (though not essential as full training is provided).
